Rod Willis MSc is known for his work in Collaboration and Mindset development, integrating ‘Design Thinking’, ‘Continuous Improvement’ and ‘Agile Practice’ bringing lasting behavioural change to organisations through innovation. He is a Director and Co-founder of Assentire Ltd, an Agile Business Consortium Member and active contributor to the ABC’s Cultural, Leadership and Strategy streams. Rod is the designer and developer of the ‘Innovation Audit 3.0’ framework, created to enhance collaboration through agile practice by unlocking what we call ‘Resistance to Change’ using advanced dialogue within groups and teams.
One aspect of his early training that inspires his work, was an experience with Henry Mintzberg and Phil LeNir (CEO of CoachingOurselves) a few years ago. This experience crystalized his understanding about what he calls the Environment Dynamic. If you create an effective environment (a healthy Environment Dynamic), have people that care about what they do, and feel Psychologically Safe, you can bring about almost any change needed with passion and creativity. He is a strong advocate of ‘work with what you have’, and ‘upgrade’ the adaptability of the organisation, through the people within.
Rod originally qualified as an Electronics Engineer and spent many years in the Semiconductor Industry. Over time, he moved on to running international P&Ls, where he started to ‘unpick’ what it was that made the difference for high performing teams and groups. He is certified on many Psychometric profiling frameworks but knows that is not enough to make high performing teams. He says, these frameworks can help with basic awareness, but the ‘magic’ comes from within the group itself and that’s where he spends his time, helping others find their ‘magic’.
